Turn-Key All-in-One Solution
(All Operating Systems)
For an all-in-one, turn-key solution to build AND host your
website, use
Intuit's web hosting service. You simply
choose a design from over 2,000 professional-designed websites,
customize it, easily add your own logo, graphics, text and domain name,
and click Post. Your website will then be live for the world to see and
you can edit it at anytime. If you're new to building websites, we
strongly recommend this system.
Download
Microsoft Windows
(.zip)
The zip file can be extracted to a folder
on the desktop once downloaded, and the program can then be launched from
within this folder without any installation. This version does not integrate
with the windows system shell.
Download
Apple Mac Leapord OS X (.dmg.zip)
The Macintosh Disc Image requires Mac OS X 10.1.5 to 10.6.9. Simply
download and open the image from the desktop. Drag the application icon into
the Application folder under the Macintosh hard drive. This "installs" Nvu
on your Mac. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR LION USERS: NVU does not currently work with Lion (OS X 10.7 or higher)...see the next section below.
Download
Apple Mac Lion OS X
Nvu does not currently support the newest Lion OS X (10.7 or higher). We recommend Lion users try Intuit's web hosting service or BlueGriffon.
Linux and Other Misc. Versions
For the Linux and other versions of Nvu, we recommend
Intuit's web hosting service or downloading and installing either the KompoZer or BlueGriffon versions listed below.
KompoZer
NVU 1.0, released in June 2005, is the last official
release that you will find at most download sites, however, it isn't the newest
or best version of the Nvu software. An unofficial bugfix/update called "KompoZer"
is available here. KompoZer
fixes some of the major
bugs and annoyances found in Nvu 1.0. If you are using NVU 1.0 and it works for you, stick with it. But if you
run into problems, give KompoZer a try and see if it helps.
BlueGriffon
BlueGriffon is the newest branch of the Nvu HTML editor with active development as of January 2011.
You can download BlueGriffon for Mac, Windows and Linux here.
Source Code
The source code for all the different versions is available here.
If you'd like to help code on the Nvu project, we suggest getting involved with the BlueGriffon project.
