About Surah Az-Zalzalah
A short, intense surah describing the earthquake that will shake the earth on the Day of Judgment, causing it to release its contents and testify to everything that occurred upon it. It closes with one of the Quran's most quoted verses on individual accountability: that whoever does even an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it too — nothing is considered too small to matter.
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

إِذَا زُلۡزِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ زِلۡزَالَهَا
Izaa zul zilatil ardu zil zaalaha
When Earth is shaken with her (final) earthquake
Tafseer
2
وَأَخۡرَجَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ أَثۡقَالَهَا
Wa akh rajatil ardu athqaalaha
And Earth yieldeth up her burdens,

3
وَقَالَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا
Wa qaalal insaanu ma laha
And man saith: What aileth her?

4
يَوۡمَئِذٖ تُحَدِّثُ أَخۡبَارَهَا
Yawmaa izin tuhad dithu akhbaaraha
That day she will relate her chronicles,
Tafseer
5
بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوۡحَىٰ لَهَا
Bi-anna rabbaka awhaa laha
Because thy Lord inspireth her.

6
يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَصۡدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشۡتَاتٗا لِّيُرَوۡاْ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ
Yawma iziy yas durun naasu ash tatal liyuraw a'maalahum
That day mankind will issue forth in scattered groups to be shown their deeds.

7
فَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيۡرٗا يَرَهُۥ
Famaiy ya'mal mithqala zarratin khai raiy-yarah
And whoso doeth good an atom's weight will see it then,

8
وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٖ شَرّٗا يَرَهُۥ
Wa maiy-y'amal mithqala zarratin sharraiy-yarah
And whoso doeth ill an atom's weight will see it then.
