About Surah Al-Masad
This surah directly condemns Abu Lahab, an uncle of the Prophet who was one of his most bitter and vocal opponents in Mecca, along with his wife, who is described as carrying firewood as a metaphor for spreading slander and hostility. It's one of the few surahs to name a specific individual, foretelling that both his wealth and efforts would be of no benefit to him, and describing his and his wife's fate in the afterlife.
